The Service Members, Veterans, and their Families Technical Assistance (SMVF TA) Center supports states, territories, and local communities in strengthening their capacity to address the behavioral health needs of SMVF.

The SMVF TA Center addresses the behavioral health needs of SMVF by identifying, sharing, and encouraging evidence-based practices that relate to prevention, treatment, and recovery supports for both mental health and substance use. SMVF provides technical assistance, training tools, and consultation to teams across the country in ways that promote coordination among civilian, military, and Veteran service systems to strengthen behavioral health care services for Veterans.

Throughout the years, the SMVF TA Center has hosted webinars to increase awareness of behavioral health issues impacting SMVF and share information regarding system coordination for support services. These webinars feature best practices and lessons learned and cover a variety of topics, including the following:

  • Veterans treatment courts
  • Behavioral health care
  • Wellness
  • Military and Veteran children and families
  • Workforce tools for Veterans
  • Suicide prevention and risk assessment
  • Substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery

These webinar recordings exist as free educational resources and can be accessed on demand from the Policy Research Associates’ YouTube channel.
