Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA) has received continued funding to support the operation of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) GAINS Center for Behavioral Health and Justice Transformation. In the Fiscal Year 2018 exercise of the GAINS Center contract, PRA will undertake several new/continuing pieces of work on behalf of SAMHSA:

  • Coordinate three expert panels, two to be held concurrently to discuss medication-assisted treatment and pre-arrest diversion
  • Develop a Web-based Forensic Peer Specialist Training Curriculum to assist peers working in justice settings
  • Develop and coordinate a Best Practices Implementation Academy

In addition to this work, among its core functions the GAINS Center will continue to:

  • Host How Being Trauma Informed Improves Criminal Justice Responses Train the Trainer events for competitively selected communities
  • Host Sequential Intercept Model Mapping Workshops for competitively selected jurisdictions
  • Provide training and assistance to SAMHSA grant programs, including the Assisted Outpatient Treatment program, the Transforming Lives Through Supported Employment Program, and the Behavioral Health Treatment Court Collaboratives
