SAMHSA and the MacArthur Foundation have issued a joint press announcement regarding the Juvenile Justice-Behavioral Health Diversion Policy Academy-Action Network initiative, coordinated by the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice at Policy Research Associates, Inc. and the Technical Assistance Collaborative, Inc. The goal of this effort is to improve policies and programs for diverting youth with behavioral health needs from the juvenile justice system to appropriate community-based services. It is expected that the development of more effective diversion policies and programs will result in more appropriate use of behavioral health and juvenile justice services and better outcomes for youth.
