This webinar is the second in a two-part series on developing and implementing wellness programs. The first webinar discussed designing and implementing a wellness program. This installment facilitated an open discussion among guest speakers from numerous mental health organizations about their wellness programs. The guest speakers were Chacku Mathai of the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s STAR Center, Ron Manderscheid of the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors, Andy Bernstein and Cheryl Glass of Camp Wellness, and Deron Drumm of Advocacy Unlimited, Inc.

This resource provides real-world examples of successful wellness programs. Presenters discuss how the eight dimensions of wellness define the programs, how they are funded, the resources they provide, how they measure results and successes, and the outcomes of their programs. Camp Wellness, an adult education program funded by Medicaid, serves 200 adults per year with serious mental illness, co-occurring mental and substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions. Adults are educated on health and wellness skills so that they are involved in their recovery. Their facility is accessible by public transportation and has a gym, full commercial kitchen, and several classrooms. This is one example of several programs within the webinar that exemplify community wellness using the eight dimensions of wellness.
