Henry J. Steadman, Ph.D.
President
Dr. Steadman is internationally known for his research in the areas of interfacing behavioral health and criminal justice systems and violence among people with mental disorders.
His work has resulted in:

- and numerous reports
Awards Dr. Steadman has received:
- William Foote Whyte Distinguished Career Award from the American Sociological Association Section on Sociological Practice and Public Sociology (2010)
- Distinguished Service Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (2007)
- Carl A. Taube Award for Outstanding Contributions in Mental Health Services Research from the American Public Health Association (2005)
- the Issac Ray Award from the American Psychiatric Association (1999)
- the Saleem A. Shah Award from the State Mental Health Forensic Directors (1994)
- the Philippe Pinel Award from the International Academy of Law and Mental Health (1988)
- the Amicus Award from the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (1987)
Dr. Steadman's B.A. and M.A. in Sociology are from Boston College, and his Ph.D. in Sociology is from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to co-founding PRA in 1987, Dr. Steadman ran a nationally known research bureau for 17 years at the New York State Office of Mental Health.
